I think Freud would have a field day with the motivation behind the purchase of such a vehicle -- and this is from someone who is a car guy. If your vehicle is going to consume that much gasoline, at least get some performance , or at least have it be a decent pick-up for hauling material. I just can't see wasting that much gas and have roughly the acceleration and top speed of the 1971 VW Type 3 Squareback in which I learned to drive.

I started shoveling the half of the driveway near me in this photo, then took several minutes to get the big pile the city snowplows had left by the end of the driveway. By the time I had finished the far half of the driveway, the first half I'd shoveled was already quite well-covered.
