Day 100 of 365. - "Kites in a Storm"
This is not a creation... This is Kites in a Storm. As it's day 100 I decided to upload something special from ArchedRoof. This photo has been published on an international scale and has been very succesful. It's been featured in the UK Independent newspaper as one of the best photos of the year (2007) and won several awards. The story behind the picture. It was August 2006 and I was living in Southsea, Portsmouth. Every year a kite festival comes to town and is displayed on Southsea's grassy common. This year in particular, I went down with my wide angle lens hoping to catch myself a winner. It started out a nice sunny day, but then started to cloud over with a storm coming in from the East. I was watching a demonstration on one side of the common, when I turned round and saw the most dramatic sight. The funny shaped kites had dropped down low to the ground just metre.

Front Page & Explore #18. i originally wasn't going to post this but i think it's a pretty funny shot from my vacation in sardegna 2 weeks ago. unlike yesterday's shot which was unmodified, this is actually two different photos stuck together with photoshop. if you look closely you can tell they don't really match but i think the end effect is worth it :-) to buy this image: http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/89981419/Flickr . ..
1..2..3! Pokot and flash - Kenya
Taken with a ringflash Canon Camera:Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III Exposure:0.004 sec (1/250) Aperture:f/10.0 Focal Length:24 mm Exposure:+0.12 ISO Speed:100 Exposure Bias:-4/3 EV Sky: lucky Pokot (or Pokhot) do not fear lions and hyenas, but at the beginning, they were wondering what was this strange thing that the mzungu asked them to keep in their hand! Lot of fun after the first shot with all the tribe! The Pokhot live in the Baringo and Western Pokot districts of Kenya and in Uganda. There are two main sub-groups depending of their location and way of life. The first group consist of the Hill Pokot who live in the rainy highlands in the west and in the central south, and are mainly farmers and pastoralists. The second group is made up of the Plains Pokot who live in dry and infertile plains, with their cattles. A homestead is composed of one or more buildings for a man, his wife and child.
Rules for Shooting Group Photos
In the tradition of "Rules for Shooting Groomsmen" 1. Maintain a strict sense of decorum. These are the photos that will end up on the mantle for generations to see, and the parents and older relatives will want to order copies. 2. To make that easier, try and get these photos done before the alcohol is served. 3. Never upstage the bride and groom. They are the stars of the show. 4. Make sure that you get a clear, flattering shot of everyone in the party, that way everyone will order copies. 5. To heck with it. Gauge the desires and attitude of your bride and groom, and the party. Wedding photography shouldn't be one-size-fits-all..

Pencil Vs Camera - 12
Enlarge HERE I took this photo in Belgium. I also drew the rough sketch. Yes I know, this one isn't really poetic, lol! And if you're interested, here below are answers I gave to Simon Crisp (for Newslite.tv) concerning this new technique: How did you come up with the idea for Pencil Vs Camera? I’ve been taking photos and drawing since almost 10 years. This « Pencil Vs Camera » series is nothing but the result of several years of graphic exploration and a logic consequence of my artistic evolution. But the real idea came by coincidence while I was watching television and writing a letter at the same time a few weeks ago. Reading my letter before putting it in the envelope, I saw in transparency the television behind the paper. I then realize it would be great to make something similar in a single image showing 2 different actions. I wen.
